ZEUS EV is a Basic Substance
Basic substances are, in general, active ingredients extracted from natural products and stabilized. These are not primarily used as plant protection products, but can be useful for plant protection. they are not potentially dangerous substances.
To be considered a basic substance, an active substance should be “food grade” and meet the requirements of WHO monographs on selected medicinal plants (Volume 1, Geneva, 1999) on Bulbus Allii Cepae. It was approved as a basic substance in accordance with the Regulation (EU) No. 2021/81 on January 27, 2021.
Allium cepa L. (onion) bulb, in addition to being a foodstuff, contains phyto-complexes that exhibit fungicidal activity. Its use is a valid solution both as a support for traditional phytosanitary treatments and in defence programs aiming at environmental sustainability and resistance management.
ZEUS EV instructions for use
ZEUS EV is used preventively in foliar application in integrated or organic programs.
On potatoes, against Alternaria solani at a dose of 6-10 L/Ha in 600-1000 L water/Ha. Repeat 3-5 times if necessary.
On tomato, against Phytophthora infestans at a dose of 15 L/Ha in 1000 L water/Ha. Repeat 3-5 times if necessary.
On cucumber, against Botrytis cinerea at a dose of 15 L/Ha in 1000 L water/Ha. Repeat 3-5 times if necessary.
Use sufficient spray volume to obtain complete and homogeneous cover of the vegetation, avoiding dripping.

Additional technical information
The soil application of Allium ceppa L. bulb extract carried out in presence of nematodes (Meloidogine incognita) showed a significant reduction in presence of J2 larvae.
Furthermore, studies carried out in the presence of Verticillium dahliae confirm that the product has a containing action against the pathogen.
ZEUS EV Impact on health and the environment
Regulation (EU) No. 2021/81 from January 27, 2021, concluded that food-grade onion bulb extract has no negative effects on human and animal health or unacceptable effects on the environment.
It also specifies that:
- the product does not pose risks to soil, water and non-target organisms.
- it can be assumed that the residues are not of concern.
